Our primary goal is to restore, enhance, and preserve military monuments for all those who served from Jackson County in defense of the United States of America, 1829 to present, beginning with the Withington Park "In Defense of the Flag" Soldiers and Sailors Monument dedicated June 14, 1904, Flag day, to the 2,382 men of the 1st and 17th Michigan Volunteer Infantry regiments.
Restoration to solid black cost/bid, August, 2014 - $6,150.00. Last restored in 2004.
For a contribution we will muster you into the 1st Michigan Infantry Company B for a term of three months, just like in 1861,
and issue a certificate that you have enlisted in the below rank based upon your donation.

Note:
If you are under 18 years of age and want to enlist, then before asked if you are over 18, take a piece of paper, write the number 18 on it and put it in your shoe before you slip it in on. Stand up and when you're asked the question, Are you over 18?, and say yes, you do not lie.
Some did this in 1861 to serve and became a part of history as officers!
